Join us, and let’s spark the joy of reading together!

Why Early Literacy Matters

Low reading proficiency in Grades 3 and 4 significantly impacts future success, increasing the likelihood of unemployment and decreasing college attendance by 50%.

1 in 5 Guilford County adults struggle with low literacy,
hindering their ability to comprehend printed or digital materials. Community literacy efforts can break this cycle.

In 2021-2022, only 27% of Guilford County children were kindergarten ready. Early literacy is the key to ensuring children are prepared for the classroom.

Literacy gaps emerge by the end of kindergarten. Starting Active Reading practices at birth is crucial for closing these gaps and fostering lifelong learning.

About Ready for School, Ready for Life

Ready for School, Ready for Life (Ready Ready) is a vibrant community collaboration dedicated to shaping brighter futures for the youngest members of Guilford County and their families. Acknowledging the pivotal impact of a child’s first three years on their lifelong success, our primary goal is to pave the way for kindergarten readiness.

We recognize that navigating early childhood support can be daunting, particularly for families with limited time and resources. Ready Ready’s mission is to simplify access to partner organizations, ensuring that families effortlessly find the assistance they need.

Our commitment spans the essential areas of early development—physical, language, social-emotional, cognitive, and play and learning. With an unwavering focus on kindergarten readiness, Ready Ready employs a data-driven approach to not only identify community gaps and family needs but also constantly refine and enhance our impact.

Together, we strive to ensure every child grows up not only healthy and happy but also fully prepared for their educational journey.
